Platoro to Edwards, Colorado
We left the Skyline Lodge in Platoro after a huge breakfast of plate sized pancakes which neither Jonathan nor I could finish. As we were walking out the door to our motorcycles, the owner of the lodge, JR, passed out from some sort of heart ailment and had to be taken to the hospital in Alamosa. We finally found a payphone at the next campground and called BJ to see how she had done during the night. After talking with her we decided to abandon our ride to New Mexico and return to Edwards as fast as we could so we could take care of her during her recovery. We rode due north on US 285, passed through Leadville and arrived in Edwards around 4 pm. During the ride the gas can in my tail trunk had leaked even more so I think I will leave it behind when and if we finally resume our trip.
