Laptop

Background

It was a requirement at the college I attended that all students have a laptop. The school provided a standard laptop that students (or in reality their parents) had to buy. That years model was pretty solid, despite the fact that it was an Acer. It only really lacked in video performance for games, though it played DVD perfectly. I still use this laptop from time to time. It has been a good computer, with relatively few problems considering the harsh day to day conditions it had to endure. Unfortunately the batter on it pretty much died after 2 years of use. Now the laptop is more like a semi-mobile desktop, if you pull the plug it immediately dies despite having a battery in it.

Uses

Not much these days. I still use it for GPS every once and a while but since I put a computer in my car, the laptop has been collecting dust. I have toyed with the idea of using it as the basis of a arcade machine (MAME, see the projects page).
