sonett - new struts for rear window

The rear glass is held up by two identical gas struts. As long as I have owned the car those struts would not open the window, but they would keep the window open once I had lifted it. Over time they got worse and this winter they wouldn't even attempt to hold the glass up.

I did some research online and found a couple of struts that were supposed to work. I was having a hard time locating them online for purchase. It finally dawned on me to look at the struts I have now for any identification. Turns out the struts I had were already after markter. Better yet, that company (Suspa) was still in business and that part number was still available for puchase. They are a custom part and were subject to 3 weeks of processing time. Regardless, I got them a week after I ordered them.

The new struts installed very easily and they work great. It is fun when a part is so easily replaceable and just works. That does not happen very often with this car.

The stuts are Suspa C16-24187.
