rv - Accident

We were traveling down 124th Ave in Brighton on our way for a hike at a nature reserve. That is a 55 MPH two lane road. A white pickup was in front of us and a Subaru was in front of him. The Subaru took a right turn on Potomac, a small side street, but did an immediate U-turn without stopping and attempted to turn left back on to 124th Ave, effectively doubling back on the road she had been traveling on. She never stopped and never looked. The result was that she missed the white pickup that was immediately behind her, but she hit our RV right on the side, just behind our front wheel all the way back to our first rear axle. I can't believe she didn't even stop during such a dangerous meneauver on a 55 MPH road. Beyond that, I can't believe she didn't see a pickup truck or our RV, an RV for goodness sakes. By the time I realized she was not going to stop at any point of her U-turn, it was too late, I swerved slightly but the last thing I wanted to do was swerve hard and just roll my entire RV on top of her car.

The hit ripped off her bumper and ripped off a good sized chunk of the side of our RV. My wife and kids were in the RV with me. Everyone was belted in. The seat with belts at the dinette (the right side of the RV) was pushed in by the front of the car. The seat was bent. Thank god my wife and youngest daughter sitting in that very seat were unharmed.

Her car also hit the door frame and hinge making it impossible to get the door open. I had to climb out through a window, which our RV has plenty of huge windows.

The RV is drivable. There is no damage to the driveline. I drove the thing 25 miles home and there were issues (alignment, brakes, steering, everything was fine). The only problem is the huge hole in the side.
