rv - Replace rear reading lights
The orignal reading lights in the back of the RV no longer worked. Sometimes they would turn on but it was rare. Mostly they would come on very dim or not at all. Also, the plastic ring was busted allowing the directional reflector to flop around around instead of staying in position.
I found a similar looking light on Ebay. The title was, "2PCS RV CONVERSION VAN 12V DIRECTIONAL READING LIGHT GOLD With SWITCH & BULB". Here is a link that will certainly be bad by the time you access it.
The new lights were a good match, went in quickly and without modifcation, and work well.
While installing the new lights I cleaned up the electrical contacts. That might have fixed the original lights so they turned on reliably. But I didn't bother trying them, I just installed the new lights. The old lights and electrical connections had clearly be exposed to water. No surprise, the cabinets also have/had signifcant water damage. The leaks have been fixed and the cabinets mended as best we can. But long term the cabinets will need to be replaced. At least now we have working lights again.
