The old air compressor was fun to look at but it made lots of noise and took forever to build any pressure. Most of the time it was stall out at 80 PSI. I decided to replace it with a Viair 450C. This thing is good for 100% duty cycle and I love it. It fills up the on-board air tank in maybe 15 seconds. I fills an empty air bag from 0 to full in about a minute. The old air compressor would have taken 15 minutes to do the same.
The air tank in the RV needed some attention to. The drain was completely clogged. It was also a shrader style drain which was dumb and likely why it was clogged. So I replaced the drain. I then replaced the inlet port to for a PSI gauge.
Unfortunately the original inlet port had a 1 way check valve that was made out of plastic. I couldn't get the old air compressore unscrewed from it without breaking the plastic. At some point I would like to add another 1 way check valve because now if I leave the air bags open to the air system, they deflate over the course of a couple days, something the check valve prevented previously. But at least now filling them up takes minutes.
I also added a female industrial air fitting. This lets me connect a hose to fill tires and inflate kids toys. I love this new air compressor. It was definitely worth the time and money. Pictures
