650 - newly purchased, prior to any rebuilds
These pictures are from before I had a website or even a digital camera. Lucky for me my parents had a 1.2 mega pixel Olpympus camera that they used to capture these pictures. I bought the 650 in the summer of 2001, after my freshman year of college. I think these photos were taken in the summer of 2002. The first was at my parents house in Illinois. The second was at my apartment in Indianapolis in the summer of 2002. The engine is still unpainted on the top end meaning I had not rebuilt it yet. That is a close as I have to a picture of bike as it was when I bought it.
Of course when I bought it the bike wouldn't get above 40 mph due to a carb issue. My father and I got that squared away pretty quickly but the bike never ceased to surpise me with more issues. Some were due to age, and some were due to my own lack of experience in motorcycle maintenance (dead battery in the middle of a ride due to worn alternator brushes comes to mind).
The second photo also a candid snapshot of my Ford Contour SVT in it.
The other bike in the photos is my fathers Honda Nighthawk 750, another great bike.
