A while back I replaced the 8 track with an Android Auto head unit by Boss, the BCPA8W. I was torn about keeping the RV original vs having a screen with navigation and backup cameras. I went with the screen and found I really liked the Boss head unit. It was easy to use, had the features I wanted, and no extra features to get in the way.

Eventually though the head unit developd a problem. I couldn't to it over android auto or bluetooth. Then I couldn't adjust the volume. Finally I couldn't change tracks or select a radio station. In the end the whole thing would just freeze up.

Since I bought the head unit from Walmart.com, a certified Boss dealer, I had an extended warranty and best of all, I still had a few months left. I contacted Boss about a replacement. After a lot of back and forth, they did finally ship me a replacement. They were out of the standard 8 inch unit, so they upgraded me to the standard 9 inch. Then they said they were out of the standard 9 inch unit, so they upgraded me to the premium 9 inch unit.

I must say the new 9 inch premium unit, the BE9ACP.WX is nice. The screen still fits in the RV. The physical buttons are a welcome change. And the side USB-C port is an added benefit.

When I was young I was a car stereo snob. PPI amps, JL subs, MBQuart speakers, and Pioneer Premier head units. I had my favorites and Boss wasn't one of them. These days, everyone else is pretty much out of the game. Boss is still here and their head units are actually pretty good. Their instructions are in proper english. Their warranty still means something.

I wont say that you are going to win any SQ competitions with Boss. But in my 1977 RV, with my 3" front speakers, I don't think any other head unit would sound any better. Here's to hoping the new head unit goes the distance.
