I previously replaced the fresh water tank, the water pump, and all the plumbing connecting them to the bathroom. Oh, and I replaced the water heater. I left the existing polybutylene plumbing that went from the bathroom, over the hallway, behind the kitchen cabinets, and to the kitchen sink. So now I had a mixture of 3/8" polybutylene and 1/2" pex.
With the ceiling of the RV removed, now was the perfect time to replace the remainder of the plumbing. I am extremely happy to report that 100% of the plumbing in the RV is now 1/2" pex. There is no polybutylene left.
I was able to do a single run piece of hot water pipe from the water heater, over the hallway, and to the kitching sink. There are no unions or fittings on that entire continuous line. I love it. The cold water line is nearly continuos but it required a T, behind the oven, for the city water to tie in. And the city water also required a T to allow draining it by a new quarter turn ball valve behind the closet wall at the end of the season.
I am relieved to have all new plumbing. The chance of a plumbing leak is substantially reduced now. I did go on a 3700 mile road trip recently where I actually got to test the city water connection a few times. It works great with no leaks. I even took a shower in the RV bathroom successfully. The plumbing is all working like it should.
