I am 6' 0" tall and I can't comfortably sleep in any bed in the RV. The rear bed is too short. I need another few inches of length. The lower bunk bed is also slightly too short. The front dinette bed is fine on length since my feet can hang over the edge. But the couches are sat out so the metal bars provide an uncomfortable sleeping surface.

My solution was to extend the rear bed. I could get the extra length by removing the wood trim behind the driver's side couch. It sticks out to provide space for the water tank fill tube. But I could remake it so only a smart part sticks out for that tube but the rest was recessed much closer to the skin of the RV.

I am happy to report this project worked. I picked up another 3 or so inches of space for my feet. I can now comfortably sleep in the rear bed without going diagonal.

The actualy construction of this wall pieces was very time consuming. It is a highly irregular shape with only a few support points. I decided to make it a one piece unit.

I made it out of marine grade plywood with the intention of covering it with Formica to match the other cabinetry. My wife and I couldn't find a Formica style to match the existing walnut-looking cabinetry. I did get some walnut vaneer which I screwed up applying to one section of the new wall. It looks terrible and will have to be scrapped or sanded off before I try something different. Some day I will get back around to finishing the surface of this wall.
